TINA/Spice/TPS7A85A: Current Sharing Parallel LDO using Ballast Resistor referencing TIDA-01232 or using control loop with sense resistors referencing TIDU-421?

Part Number:TPS7A85A

Tool/software:TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hello,

I need a LDO regulator that can provide Vin = 3.3V, Vout = 1.0V and capable of sourcing up to 8A, and upon searching, I found TPS7A85A to be the best candidate. To achieve this high of a current output, it would mean I would need qty 3 TPS7A85A LDOs in parallel. After researching current sharing and LDOs in parallel, TI mentioned that for high current and low noise TIDA-01232 (ballast resistors) should be used, and for high accuracy TIDU142 (control loop and sense resistors) should be used. I am leaning towards using the TIDA-01232 design, due to the fact it has been thoroughly tested with six LDOs in parallel and specifically uses the TPS7A85A; while the TIDU421 design has only been tested with two LDOs and used a different LDO part.

1) If high accuracy is the requirement, is it recommended to use TIDU421 design with qty three TPS7A85A in parallel or is it strictly for only two LDOs? If three is acceptable, how would that be implemented? Would a double supply control loop op amp be needed?

2) I have simulated the TIDA-01232 design in Tina with 3 LDOs in parallel, and wanted to clarify the RBallast and Evout (see calculations below):

In the reference design, there is a given Evout formula, in which I calculated assuming Voutnom = 1V and ERfb = 1% (not sure about this value since it wasn't given or if its needed?)

However, in the document it also mentions using Evout = 0.75mV.

I am unsure if I should use the Evout I calculated or the 0.75mV mentioned below.

Next, I calculated RBallast using the given formula below. However, I am unsure if this formula is specifically for 2 LDOs in Parallel or if can be used for multiple. If its for multiple then shouldn't the "2" multiplied with IoutMaxSingle be "n", the number of LDOs in parallel?  If it is just "2" then I would get a negative result for Rballast.

Note: I Used 0.75mV for Evout for the Rballast calculations because I wasn't sure if I should use the calculated 14mV.

Simulation: Looking at the transient result, it seems like the schematic is designed correctly. I achieved an output voltage of 993.63mV. But would like to know if there are more ways to improve the accuracy of my schematic. Also, is the current going through the ballast resistors supposed to be so small? (probed it with the DMM and current = 5nA for the three ballast resistors)

TIDA-00704: TIDA-00704 the voltage is variance when overload?

Part Number:TIDA-00704

Hi all, I want to design a smps which need 30V 9A , and I just check TIDA-00704 performance is quiet fulfill my target, so I want to understand more about this design:

1. I checked that tiduc71a.pdf, the efficiency chart in page20, when the current is = 10.9A, the votlage is dropping, but what is the reason the voltage is dropping even the current is no change?(10.9A) If constant power, the voltage will drop but the current can increase.

2. I check it need a separated 12V voltage source to supply the EV board (TIDA-00708), does TIDA-00704 efficiency chart is already count with 12V source? or just count the TIDA-00704 only?

3. The TIDA-00704 mention 30V 9A is continuous? or just a short period? any other cooling device need to provide if want to continuous supply(i.e. fan)?

4. I want to redesign the transformer and the board for my new project, need to combine TIDA-00708 and TIDA-00704, may I know can TIDA00708 transformer can merge with TIDA-00704's transformer? or still need separate  them better?

Thanks you!

Hi Team,

We try to export the design to OrCAD file but not able to get the file extracted and move to OrCAD to generate the schematic.

The error message will shows up right after the download were completed.

We already tried on different computer both Win7 and Win10, customer and ours, but still not working. We have try with other designs and work just fine.

kindly help to look in to the error message below and let us know how to fix it.

Hi Team,

My assigned account is requesting IBIS models for the TMP122AMDBVTEP and TPS3813K33MDBVREP.

None of these seem to have any simulation models available, just wondering if we can support this request.

Supervisor IC's

Hi team,

I’m looking for a supervisor IC which can monitor an emergency stop signal (24V – 0V, Active Low), when the voltage of this line drops below a certain threshold, a timer would be enabled (programmable timer would be best in the range of 150ms to 500ms).

Due to this being part of the safety chain, this IC would need to be certified with the relevant standard to ensure it always failed safe.

Two ICs would be used per system for double redundancy .

PS: Seems as something similar to the TL7700 but with a broader operational temperature would be ideal.

Can you suggest any suitable parts?

Evaluation board which features a set of high speed ADCs and DACs for 60Ghz link data transmission

I'm using the HMC6350EK1 evaluation kit from Analog devices to transmit data at 60GHz. We are looking to build a demonstrator outputting high data rates using a digital modulation scheme over the 60GHz link, but struggled to find a ready to go set of eval cards that would let me do this.

Ideally I would like a single evaluation board which features a set of high speed ADCs and DACs with differential outputs coming out on SMA connections, (I+, I-, Q+ Q- for both transmit and receive), with an FMC connector so that it can be driven from an FPGA development board. Ideally the sampling rates of the ADC/DAC would be 500Msps at minimum.

The HMC6350EK1 boards require a set of differential IQ interfaces driven by/to analog signals. speaking to Analog Devices, it does not seem like there is much they have that can be used immediately to solve this without creating a custom PCB to do it.

I was pondering whenever the ADC32RF82EVM and the DAC38RF82EVM would be a good fit for this purpose and whenever we have any examples available to get me going.

TINA/Spice/LMG1020: Error importing EPC20136 FET

Part Number:LMG1020

Tool/software:TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi,

I downloaded and installed TINA to be able to run the LMG1020 in a spice simulation with an EPC2036 GaN FET. I am getting an error generating the new macro part. I used tools>>New Macro Wizard and selected 'from file' choosing EPCGaNLibrary.lib. I was prompted to select a part from the library and chose EPC2036. It presented a auto generated shape so I selected 'load shape from library' and chose a NMOSE FET symbol. I then assigned the gate, source and drain pins by dragging and dropping to the symbol. When I selected next I got this error:

The line in question is:

C_CSD1 source drain Q=(asd2*asd4*log(1+exp((v(source,drain)-asd3)/asd4))+
+ asd5*asd7*log(1+exp((v(source,drain)-asd6)/asd7)) )

TINA/Spice/INA133: Tips to carry out stability analysis for improved howland current source

$

I need to construct a V -> I conversion circuit with a gain of 100mA/V and +-200mA drive capability. The frequency requirements are not high, and bandwidth of 2kHz would more than suffice. However the circuit needs to operate with a wide range of resistive & inductive loads. With an inductance range of 0 to 100mH and resistance of 0.1R to 500R (Understanding that the current will be limited at higher resistances by the +-15V supply rails)

My AC analysis is a bit rusty and I have been trying to work through the guides found here https://training.ti.com/ti-precision-labs-op-amps-stability-3 to calculate the phase margin.

However I am not quite sure the correct location to break the feedback loop at, in particular since the Howland current source also has positive feedback.

I have attached my TINA simulation.

Could you please add an column / filter option to discard solution / TI products that are e.g. in preproduction or not recommended for new designs?

(I designed e.g. with LMR36015 to discover later that it is in preproduction. For me, it's quite a hassle to buy items from non-standard distributors other than Mouser / Farnell etc.)

Next, is there also a way to give feedback regarding components from other manufacturers being not recommended for new designs (e.g. the SLF6045 of TDK or the SLF7055 of TDK)?

Jurjen

HI team:

    TPS65987 application!!!

I just develop a power board  -> 24V , will use Mac book adapter and TIDA-01627 board which removed BQ25703 ,

so can your team send me the TIDA-01627 pjt file & bin file .

BTW , I use FT4232  I2C to flash the TPS65987 ,but it does not work ,  I found some interesting things that  the tool GUI still can erase and flash bin file even though

I did not connect TIDA-01627 board , How can it happen?
