TIDA-00951: HRPWM for Phase Shift Full Bridge

$

0

Part Number:TIDA-00951

Hello,

in this design we have implemented Phase Shift Modulation for step-down mode: running @ 100 kHz the phase can be modualted with 2x16,6 ns steps and we think that the resulting resolution is not enough to accurately regulate the charging current in Average-Current-Mode-Control, therefore we are trying to use the HRPWM function.

We have seen that HRPWM is available only of A-type pwm: being the two high-side fets driven by A-type pwm, and the two low-side fets driven by B-type pwm, we will have high resolution only on the high-side fets. Therefore we have the two high-side pwm's that shift with HR and the two low-side pwm's that shift with standard resolution (+/- 16 ns).

The result is shown in the following picture:

While the two A-pwm's are shifting within the 16 ns interval (green) the B-pwm's do not shift, and the trafo primary voltage wavefronts are no more symmetrical with respect to the vertical axis: that will not produce a V x s imbalance therefore its should not be an issue.

Then the two B-pwm's will make a 16 ns phase step (pink), and the trafo primary voltage wavefronts will become symmetrical again with respect to the vertical axis.

That "jump" is not much good.... any idea to resolve this issue ?

Thanks

Thanks for answers

TIDA-01604: Any current loop control during light loads especially under BCM/DCM

$

Part Number:TIDA-01604

Champs,

I am asking this for our customer.

We are aware that there is current control modelling in the doc.

However, we wonder:

Do we only use one current control loop for all load conditions, especially for light load conditions where continuous conduction mode (CCM) may not be not met?

That is, is it possible in light loads the inductor currents are in boundary/discontinuous conduction modes (BCM/DCM) so that our current control loop designed for continuous conduction mode (CCM) may become worse?

Do we have any special algorithm to deal with BCM/DCM or any comment about this?

Dear sir

I want to use a raspberry pi to flash a microcontroller from ti.
As it seems the linux version of Uniflash is based on a x86 architecture and can not be installed on the raspi.

Is there any way, to get uniflash running on my raspberry pi, or maybe you can compile a arm version of Uniflash?

WEBENCH® Tools/WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER: TPS43060 webench simulation with custom component value

Part Number:WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Webench Team,

Our customer is using the TPS43060 in one of their product design, the application is 10.5V~28Vin to 40Vout , load current 3.5A. Customer has done the webench simulation in 2018-Aug (attached is the design file), with the simulated power efficiency of ~95%. They measured the actual power efficiency is ~93%. Customer hope to have a more accurate power efficiency simulation using the actual mosfet and inductor value used in the design (attached datasheets for both components). Below is the link to the webench simulation file. Customer is not able to change the M1, M2 and L1 component value. Pls advice how can we change the component value to custom value ?

(Please visit the site to view this file)(Please visit the site to view this file)

I am not able to open the webench design link due to I am not the recipient of the link. I have tried simulate with the same requirement of 10.5V-min, 28Vin-max, 40Vout , load current 3.5A, but not able to proceed until lowering the Iout to 2A. Webench show with message – M1 and M2 could not be found in current database and continue to use ideal parameters and not able to change both M1 and M2 to other value either. Pls advise is there any other way that I can change the value ?

Thanks for looking into this enquiry. Look forward to your feedback.

Note – I have checked with sk_loo who has shared the webench design with customer. He is unable to share the webench design file with me. He is too unable to change the M1 & M2 value either.

Hey,

We would like to know the possibility of the availability of the above design in Webench since we found the above same design in one of the documents related to LM2585 which was provided by Texas Instruments. We tried searching for the design in your Webench but we couldn't find it. Please come up with a solution to our problem since its extremely important and essential for the simulation results related to our project.

Thank You.

Hi

I found similar question of TPS61196 on E2E. However I would like to ask again.

Do you have a plan to produce a simulation model (for TINA or PSPICE)?

We understand there are some similar device can be substituted. However our customer request us providing the simulation model of TPS61196.

It may take some time but is it possible?

WEBENCH® Tools: Step backwards: corrupt schematic, no component seed, can't find GBP>700KHz.

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I've returned to your online filter design tool to find it much much worse.

I selected "Lowpass" filter, Gain = 5V/V, 2nd order, Butterworth.

The resultant schematic was missing all the parts, just the net lines remain.

It informs me I need GBW reqd (Hz) = 7.071k but warns me "No parts available with Gain Bandwidth greater than 100 times the required Gain bandwidth" (707kHz), there are plenty!

I'm also unable to seed component values like previously.

I've noticed other issues over the last month or so, is there a fix on the way?

TIDA-01496: How to decide the motor rotation speed with the EVM.

$

Part Number:TIDA-01496

Hi,I'm studying the DRV10983EVM,but we need to drive the motor with constant speed even if the motor torque is changed.

I found that TIDA-01496  can drive the motor with constant speed by entering the speed control signal to ADC input of MSP430.

But I'm not sure the relationship between ADC input value and rotation speed(Hz).

according to 3.1.2.2 Flow for Using ADC10 of MSP430 to Implement PI Speed Control System in the manual as  below,I think we should define SPEED_INPUT,and scale value.

3. The speed level determines the target speed of the electrical cycle (Hz), defined by SPEED_INPUT,and scale value, defined by Scale.

if we would like to drive the motor with the constant speed of  every 1000rpm between 10000rpm~30000rpm ,could you tell me how  we could  define the value ?

Thanks .

Hi All,

Using MSP430F5132 I want to extend following design from TI for

TI Designs: TIDA-010042
MPPT charge controller reference design for 12- and 24-V
solar panels

Requirement:

1) Battery can be charged both from Solar Panel and SMPS (AC to DC) (12V-13.5V, 7A-10A) (maximizing the use of solar panel).

2) Microcontroller or other method should make decision when to do charging from Solar panel or SMPS or both (maximizing the use of solar panel).

3) Load should be supplied from Solar Panel and Battery if power sufficiently available  otherwise remaining power to the load should be supplied from SMPS (maximizing the use of solar panel).

3) User is not aware how charging is done or load power is shared but when solar energy is available it should be used (maximizing the use of solar panel).

Please suggest detailed design along with schematic and source code.

Thanks and Regards,

Mithilesh Kumar

hello,

I created a power design using Webbench and then used the export option for Altium.

This provided me with the PCB and Library information but not the schematic.

I tried to go back and just down load the schematic as any one of the provided options, Altium, Mentor, etc and every download is a 1kB zip file with nothing in.

I've loaded an older version of the simulation and downloaded the schematic, but it still does not produce the ".schdoc" file

WEBENCH® Tools: Line transparency setting - the numbers are the inverse of 'transparency'

$

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

In the setting for the line width, colour, transparency, the 'Transparency' number is actually the line 'density', the inverse of transparency... If I set a transparency of 80%, I expect the line to be mostly transparent, or?  But, it works in the opposite sense, where a 'transparency' of 20% gives a density of 20%.

Nit-picking, perhaps, but just trying to get better ;-)
