TIDA-01580: Trouble in manufacturing evaluation board

Hello, I want to manufacture the TIDA-01580 to evaluate the AFE4900 chip. Since the package is too small, I am having trouble manufacturing the board. Is there any way to get the board manufactured or is there any place to buy TIDA-01580 board?


TIDA-01501: unclear signals

Hello,

Some signals are not clear how they are connected.

-On the LLC stage schematic, it is unclear how V+ and V- of the LM258AD are connected. The components are named U2 and U10.

-What is U15?

-Is the Signal VTEMP in the LLC stage something else other V_temp on the daughter board?

- is SGND1 in the daughter board not connected to  SGND on the LLC stage? I think so so that no short circuit happens on the synchronous rectifier mosfets, Right?

- to which supply is VS_AUX2 in the daughter board connected. The U15 daughter board connector in the LLC Stage Shows that pin2 should be V_temp (not VTEMP) and pin3 should be named VS_AUX2. Unless I misunderstood something.

Hope this finds you well.

I'm using the LMV7231 to monitor 5 voltage sources instead of 6. What would be the proper termination for the -IN6, +IN6 and CO6? Should they be grounded or kept open? Or do you suggest connecting each of these pins to a specific load? Please let me know.

Hi,

In reference to TIDA-00643, I am trying a design a system which can run a Brushless DC Motor with higher power.

Test Procedure :

For testing, I tried running my motor at different values of USER_MOTOR_MAX_CURRENT from 5 A to 23 A. Using a Watt-Meter I measured the current draw which was found to be pretty accurate at peaks. 

Observations :

1. It runs smoothly from 0-15 A.

2. It jitters from 15-23 A. 

3.It throws a fault when run at values greater than 23 A.

Goal : I want to increase USER_MOTOR_MAX_CURRENT  

I have three assumptions :

1. Is it any component's (i.e. DRV8305, shunt resistors, MOSFETs ) maximum rating that is limiting the USER_MOTOR_MAX_CURRENT ?

2. Is it the layout of the board that is limiting it?

2. Is it any parameter in the firmware that is limiting it?

3. Is it the thermal protection circuit in the DRV8305 that is shutting it off ?

Recently I learned about the TIDA-01604, and I have some questions.

This design is a bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) solution, what's the role of the D102(FET Paralled Rectifier).

Shall we use the SiC MOSFET C3M0065100K or C3M0030090K to take the place of the C2M0025120D(Q7-Q10).

TIDA-00792: using fewer cells

we are looking for a battery management system for lithium-iron phosphate batteries.

We like the reference design TIDA-00792 very much.

However, we need a nominal voltage of 12V with only four cells in series.

Can we use it for this application or would you recommend another one?

PMP8454: PMP8454 with only 5V output

Hello,

Is it possible to run the PMP8454 with only the 5V/1A output and still retain efficiency?  Essentially, just remove the 3.3V output and associated parts, and feed R18 to the 5V output?  The test data seems to show that this won't affect the efficiency.

Also, is there any data on minimum load and efficiency at minimum load?

Essentially, I am looking for a class 1, high efficiency, small minimum load, 5V design.

During the simulation, They found below error message.

In the datasheet, it says the Tj range is -40C to 150C. How to perform the simulation when Tj > 125C?

Hello,

We are using TINA-TI simulation tools and we are new on this platform. We would like to simulate the PMP10351 reference design on TINA-TI. We would like to create the UCC28710 component in TINA-TI. BUt when we import the file then we get the error(image sketch3.png). we are importing the file from "slum538" file. We are following the "slva527" pdf file. 

Please help me to solve this.

Thanks very much for the very good support. I have some more Questions please.

with regard to the values of CX1 and CX2, their value in the BOM are 1uF and 0.68uF respectively. However, when the schematic is openend, it can be seen in the Parameters tab that they both have a value of 0.33uF. Which value should be used please?

TIDA-010030: Re-establish from OC and SC faults in TIDA-010030

Hi,

I have some questions regarding the firmware flow in TIDA-010030, as shown in the Design Guide doc.

1. When detecting OC and SC faults, AFE opens the Discharge FET. In the firmware's flowchart, there is a loop where the MCU reads the pack current until it's lower than a "OC recovery threshold". Why this loop is necessary? (As I understood, the discharge FET is open, and any readings will give a value of 0)

2. When detecting OV fault, AFE opens the charge FET. In the firmware's flowchart. there is a loop waiting for cell voltages to re-establish to normal levels, before the firmware clears the error and puts the system in stand-by. Why would this happen, considering that during that loop the system is not discharging? Wouldn't be the only way of getting out from that error to allow Discharge? (I.e. to go back to the main fsm and allow user to discharge the battery in the scooter)

3. Bonus: A hardware question from the ref design schematic. Why do the I2C pull-ups have a "pull-ups enable" transistor? (Q18)

The Design TIDA-00121.As mentioned TI,It is possible to increase the LED Drive  current up to 1.1A.

We need the LED drive current up to 2A.

TINA- TI Piecewise Linear Source number of data points

I am using the Piecewise Lienar Source to generate a random voltage waveform stored in 2 separate .csv files. I have 4000 data points per .csv file and am combining the two .csv files to generate the single voltage source. Individually each .csv file reproduces the waveform accurately but when I combine the 2 .csv files, I see that the second half of the waveform seems to use lesser samples(data points) than available leading to a waveform that looks "digitized" with insufficient samples. Why does this happen wherein the data points entered in the PWL list seem to be dropped randomly leading to an inaccurate source? Is this an issue with the PWL source(max no. of data points it can handle) or with the waveform viewer?

TIDA-00792: Why we need both discharge and charge protection FET in BMS ?

Hi all,
I have two questions>>
First, why we need both discharge and charge protection FET in BMS? Okay, we need both protection features but why they are separate? I think it's better to, kind of OR the two signals into one MOSFET! Right or I missed something? 

Second, I don't understand why we need the High-side FETs?like in TIDA-00792, so I read "bq769x0 3-series to 15-series cell battery monitor family for li-ion and phosphate applications". and find the following:
"High-side FETs enable continuous communication between a host
controller and the monitor, regardless of whether the FETs are on or off. This allows the controller to read critical
pack parameters despite safety faults, enabling the system to access pack conditions before allowing normal
operations to resume."

But using low-side FET as in TIDA-00449 I think I just take the ground(Of course before the FET) with the two SMBus lines! then how communication will be not continuous?
